About the scheme

Category 3, 4 & 5: Install, Inspect & Remove Timber, Steel and Proprietary Support Systems, as agreed by industry representatives, defines the minimum training and assessment required for those working to install, inspect and remove a range of excavation support systems. The specification does not preclude employers and providers from adding to the specification in their own training programs. The specification has been derived from the following National Occupational Standards:

  • EUSMUNC07 Excavate and Maintain Holes and Trenches for Utility Networks Construction
  • EUSGNC007 Excavate and Maintain Holes and Trenches for Complex Operations in Gas Network Construction
  • COSVR370 Provide Temporary Excavation Support
